Since its inception in 1973, the ACVIM has continued to be a trusted leader in veterinary education, discovery, and excellence. With a humble beginning of just over 40 Diplomates, the organization has grown exponentially and now holds a membership of over 3,700, as of 2024. Over the decades, the ACVIM's commitment to advancing the field of veterinary medicine has remained unwavering. Through continuous innovation, education, and fostering a community of dedicated members, the ACVIM has played a pivotal role in advancing specialty veterinary medicine.
"The ACVIM has provided me an extensive network of mentors without whom I would not be where I am today. Since I started vet school, all my mentors have been members of the ACVIM, and they have each helped me develop as a professional in a unique way."
"The ACVIM has set the standard for veterinary specialists and continues to support all of us specialists in this growing college. Becoming a member of the ACVIM and an Oncologist remains, and always will be, one of my greatest career successes."
"The ACVIM and its staff and leaders (particularly current staff and leaders) feel like my family. The engagement and networking have helped me not just professionally but personally."
"I am grateful for the volunteer opportunities with the ACVIM that have helped me to challenge myself and grow as an organizational leader, and I hope to be able to continue to contribute to this organization for a long time in the future."
"I am grateful to all those that came before me and contributed to the profession to make it what it is today. I volunteer for the ACVIM to show my gratitude and give back."
